History of a New Hampshire Dealership 

State Motors Lincoln/Mercury has been proudly serving the greater Manchester NH area for three generations.  What started as a repair shop in South Weare by Maurice J. Grant in 1919 soon became a franchised reseller of vehicles for the FORD Motor Company. The Lincoln Franchise was added in 1936 and Mercury in 1939, this makes State Motors one of two original and oldest Lincoln-Mercury dealers in the country. 

After World War II, State Motors Inc moved from two previous locations in Manchester to the corner of Blodget and North Elm in Manchester NH. In 1946 Maurice sold his interest in the Ford store to his brother Leon leaving us with State Motors Lincoln Mercury of Manchester.

Stanley Grant worked his way up from a gas station attendant and mechanic to an automobile salesman, Sales Manager, and General Manager. In 1960 the business relocated to its present location on the Daniel Webster Highway in North Manchester.

In 1997 Stanley Grant sold the company to his two sons Gregory and Douglas.  Like their father, both worked there way up through the departments of the company and now share the duty of co-dealers.  Gregory is the President and General Manager and Douglas is the Vice-President and General Sales Manger.
